It’s here, it’s finally here! In 2008, a younger James CalmDownKidder went to a little-known festival called Blip Festival, and this laid the seeds for CDKr’s most ambitious project yet – a chipmusic tribute to Fat Wreck Chord’s Short Music For Short People. 101 tracks, 101 different artists, all approximately 30 seconds or less. All-new original songs from some of Chipmusic’s biggest names, including Bit Shifter, gwEm, 4mat, Nordloef, and many (97, to be precise) more! On the Anniversary of CalmDownKidder’s first ChipFest event, Micro Music for Micro People is as much a Time Capsule of 2008-2009 chipmusic as it is an exciting and new release!

Thanks to Thomas ’0010100′ Mahon for Mastering
Thanks to Ville Kontinnen for Artwork
Thanks to all the artists who have contributed, and thanks to all the artists who have contributed to CalmDownKidder Records over the years – and most importantly, thank you, the listener, for keeping CalmDownKidder Records alive throughout the years!

Whitely is a man that can genuinely claim to be Telford’s #1 Seapunk artiste – but when he’s not scuba diving with his musical equipment, he often creates top Game Boy jams for your earholes – and CDKr is happy to host ‘Mori’, an album containing five absolute bangers – the album is short, but it certainly packs some punch!

When not travelling around the world, breaking hearts and bank balances, L-tron is busy making tasty dance beats on his Game Boy. Dsknekt is the result of many years of creating music, which ranges from “full on party classic”, to “even more full on party classic”. Don’t sit back, don’t relax, put this on and enjoy yourself silly.

All created on one Game Boy, using LSDJ.

environmental sound collapse‘s latest release is four tracks of piggy tracker, midiNES and a circuit-bent Yamaha RX-17 smushed together, to create a stodgy meal of crunchy basslines, jittery drum beats and sprinkled with noisy leads, in order to feed your earholes. Recommended side-dishes include bacon, vodka, vodka-infused bacon and bacon-infused vodka. Eat up!

CDKr is no stranger to hip hop, with the Chip Hop and Urban Bits compilations being notable examples – but here is the debut effort from rap icon Steady C! Straight outta Meriden, Conneticut, Steady C has been creating rhymes and breaking hearts since he was but a small child. This collection of tracks contains some oldies, and some new crackers for yer earholes as well.

Jellica follows up his ‘Flappiest Bits‘ with some of his less flappy bits, I suppose? A collection of various tracks that are scattered all over the internet in miscellaneous compilations like an easter egg hunt that takes up space on your hard drive – now all in one convenient place! Don’t worry though, this isn’t some rubbish “yeah I’ve heard this before” selection, there are some brand spanking new tracks, including some top remixes by Jellica (remixing Video Game Orchestra, Victoria and Jacob, and previous CDKr Releasees VideoValvontaa – Jellica only listens to artists who begin with V, apparently) and from others of Jellica (Flashbob, Analog, Steve and esc)!

TLDR? If you like Jellica, you’ll love this!

Astonishingly dirty basslines? Check. Thumping Beats? Check. Samples from all sorts of various nooks and crannies in pop culture? Check. Christmas Song? Check.

Wait, what?

Most ordinary mixes don’t have Christmas songs, but then, most mixes aren’t by Atari and axe wielding madman Gareth Morris, who celebrates his 10th year of being ‘The One They Call gwEm‘. During a short period of not being busy from touring all over the world, from London to Toyko and almost everywhere in between, or putting on his own shows, or making his own Atari music composing software maxYMiser, gwEm has managed to make this astonishing 35 minute mix of old and new music into an unforgettable dance mix, that will surely cement his position in the chipscene for at least another ten years!
